Pilot

So, one of these things called a "blog."

This is a sort of new frontier for me. Usually I'm restricted to 140 character or less, but now I can hash out whatever I may please in as many characters as I want.

As many of you already know, I'm a sort of "freelance" photographer. You can consider what I photograph in more of a "funnel" view starting from the most broad term. Photographer. Then it delves further from there into sports photographer, and even more specifically hockey photographer, finally ending up at the level of the Dallas Stars. Why the Stars? It's a team I grew up watching literally since I was two or three and have loved them since. From the success of the late '90s teams to Modano's prime years, to the reinvention of the Stars and resurgance, I've pretty much seen it all.

Hockey is my pure love at this point in my life, and coupling that with photography makes for the perfect blend of passion and career. Photography is something I want to do for a living and I intend on doing so. You could say I picked up photography almost ten years ago when my parents asked me to take a picture on a family vacation. So there I was, a little nine or ten year old kid, holding a small digital camera, snapping away. My parents looked at the photo afterwards and I heard them remark "this is actually really good." It was not until the fall of 2013 when I had the idea to bring my camera to the Stars vs. Blackhawks game on November 29th did I really unlock my "full potential" you could say. I began taking photos at warmups and did so from then on and through talking with a graphic design teacher at the time, I finally realized what I had the talent to do and wanted to do with my life.

Photography.

In short, that's how you can sum up how I got to be where I am at this point in my life. A hockey nut and a young photojournalist.

Throughout this blog, I will be mostly putting words to pictures and recreating a story of events that happens throughout the Stars season, as well as giving my thoughts on what I think is happening with the team, the hockey landscape in general, and other sports topics.
